Our history...

What first started as a cottage industry some 25 years ago Senada has grown to become a leader in producing high quality clothing and batik products.

We were the first to open a children’s clothing store in Bali, named “Main Main” (this translates from Indonesian into “playing”). Children’s clothing allowed us to explore our creativity with design and colour in a playful way, coming up with fun exciting creations.

Having worked with batik fabric for some time, we knew this would be very suitable for children’s wear. We found the demand increasing for our children’s clothing using batik fabric. This led us into more in depth research and experimentation with batik.

Eventually, in response to our desire for more hands on control of both design and quality we invested in the development of our own batik factory. We concentrated on the colours and designs, while keeping the traditional “cap” (stamp) batik making method intact, resulting in a more contemporary product of today.

The unprecedented demand from our customers for sewing orders, and our inability to fulfil such high demand, led to customers requesting the purchase of batik fabric to sew their own models of clothing elsewhere.

This led to the opening of Senada store & showroom on Double Six Street, Seminyak, in the early 1990’s. Initially we focused on the sale of batik fabric by the meter for garment manufacturers. Shortly thereafter, we also introduced batik sarongs that proved very successful.

In keeping with our desire to pursue only high quality items, we have carefully branched out into other areas and selected products. Although our batik fabric and batik sarongs are our products of primary focus, our garment production has always remained strong with a large range of different models for all ages.

We have always maintained, and continue to insist on the highest quality standards in our products. Our batik and garment business has grown with careful guidance and focus into a recognised name of quality. Confidence and satisfaction with Senada has allowed our customer base to expand to all corners of the world.
